Phantom Athletics - How everything began

Here you learn the story behind the success of the Phantom Athletics brand and their CEO Dominique Wenger

Since his early childhood, Dominique Wenger always had a strong connection with martial arts, especially thai boxing. He was an active fighter since the age of twelve and together with his brother Nico a well-known face within the Salzburg thaiboxing and MMA community. But there came a point where just standing in the octagon by himself was no longer enough.
2006 Dominique Wenger started, first as a side hustle to his studies, with the mission to equip athletes with the best gear available on the market. He founded the online store Vantage Fighting, and being among the very first to do so, Dominique Wenger imported top-level martial arts brands from the USA to Europe.

Long work days and night shifts didn´t pose an obstacle for Dominique Wenger, with his discipline and focus trained by years of martial arts experience. He knew best, what athletes actually needed what helped him to lead Vantage Fighting to fame within the martial arts community. Hard work and dedication payed off. After just a few years Vantage Fighting was the biggest online store for high-quality martial arts equipment in the DACH region. Besides individual athletes, big martial arts gyms startet buying their equipment in Dominique Wengers store. Over time he started to build his own shop brand “Vantage” and put all his know-how as an athlete into it to offer products to his customers that weren´t available anywhere else.

But for Dominique Wenger, this was just the beginning of something much bigger. While Vantage was skyrocketing, he built the brand Phantom Athletics.

After a successful exit from Vantage Fighting for a seven-figure sum Dominique Wenger pursued this project with all his focus. Even faster than Vantage Fighting Phantom Athletics developed into a well-known name, not just for martial artists but athletes from other sports as well. The secret behind: deep knowledge, what athletes really need, high functional products and cutting-edge design. Besides customers from within the EU Phantom Athletics and Dominique Wenger equipped the Austrian National Wrestling team and pro athletes from different disciplines.
Especially the community is something Dominique Wenger puts a strong emphasis on. Pro and amateurs alike are all part of the Phantom family and support the brand with their feedback to get even better, range by range. When you ask Dominique Wenger what his ambitions are for the future, the answer is clear: “Continuous improvement of our products, an even bigger community and as usual all-in for sports.” Six years after being founded, the Phantom spirit remains strong and this is something that won´t change for the foreseeable future.
