On 12 April 2021, the St. Petersburg Planetarium will screen the unique extended version of the Space Art Odyssey video created by the artist Marina Fedorova.

To commemorate the 60th anniversary of the first human spaceflight, at 20:00 on 12 April the COSMODREAMS project will present an art video created specifically for viewing at the St. Petersburg Planetarium. The Space Art Odyssey will be shown as part of the Planetarium’s GAGARIN NIGHT multimedia show dedicated to Yuri’s Night international celebrations.

The Space Art Odyssey takes the viewer on a virtual space journey to explore the uncharted part of the Universe. Its main character is a space traveller who suddenly chances upon the remains of a human civilization which once reclaimed the Moon as a kind of art space. Mankind might have migrated to a different galaxy or disappeared altogether, but right here and right now the protagonist gets a glimpse of its values and worldview through its surviving art. To learn what he has encountered, seen and understood, the viewer only needs to watch the full video.

The original version of the Space Art Odyssey is a 6-minute journey through an imaginary Universe. The rooms of the virtual art museum showcase paintings and sculptures created by the artist Marina Fedorova. Only on 12 April, a 15-minute extended version of the art video will be screened. Those attending the GAGARIN NIGHT multimedia show will get a chance to gain more insight into the space traveller’s story: find out why he is roaming the depths of the Universe, get a closer look at the extraterrestrial art institution, hear the imaginary story of planet Earth, and a lot more. The ultra high definition video has a resolution of 8K.

Screening date: 12.04.2021
Time: 20:00
