What is UberBOAT

The UberBOAT service is an Uber option that lets Uber users avoid the long lines and slow movements of road transport by simply riding a speedboat under the bridge to their destination. This service is in form of water taxis and is usually launched during festival periods in selected cities. The service will give users access to luxury yachts for a reasonable fare. All you have to do is tap a few buttons on your app and you are all set.

How it Works
• Request the service on your app
• User needs to be in the UberBOAT Zone to use the service.
• User gets a driver who will take them to the corresponding UberBOAT dock
• From the dock, user will get to board a luxury yacht and will be taken to the opposing UberBOAT Dock.
• On arrival at the dock closest to their destination, the driver will then take the user to their final destination within the Zone.
• An UberBOAT charge includes the rides to and from the docks, along with the boat ride.
How Drivers Can Sign up For UberBOAT

Drivers in the UberBOAT zone can sign up for the service through the normal way of registration for any Uber service. Visit JoinUber to signup. Questions like how much do Uber drivers make; and how much commission Uber collects will be answered during the on boarding process.

Availability

As said earlier, this service is mostly offered during huge gatherings/festivals as a smart way to boycott the obviously imminent traffic. It is possible that Uber is taking their time to study this service before putting out there as a full-fledged service offered via the Uber app. For example, the service was made available as a transport option during the Miami Art Week. However, the service was debuted in Sydney and Boston in mid-2015. Uber launched boat experiments in Boston, Sydney, Amsterdam, and Baltimore, but boats ran in Sydney for only a few hours, while Bostonians could Uber across Boston Harbor for two weeks during June 2014. In 2016, Uber also made this service available in Baltimore, USA during the Arts festival and also during the Cannes festival in France.
