We know how tough it can be to browse the entire internet in search of a well-made and reliable recliner that makes your life better eventually.

If you are in search of how to repair a recliner chair, you are here in the right space. Follow these easy steps to know how to fix a recliner?

Step 1:

Determine exactly what is wrong in the chair, and the tools that will be needed to repair it.

Step 2:

If the screws are loose, tighten them well with a flat head or a Phillips head screwdriver, depending on the type of screw head. If the screws are missing, determine if there is a match from any other place in the frame. If so, consider the size and place the missing screw for one that fits.

Step 3:

If the nuts and/or bolts are loose, tighten them with an adjustable wrench. If nuts and/or bolts are missing, determine what size is needed, and replace them with others that are the right size.

Step 4:

If the lever that drives the footrest has been loosened, simply tighten the screws that are holding the chair. If the handle is broken, it is possible to buy or order a replacement part that simply fits into the original opening. Get the brand name of the chair and order the handle that is custom designed.

Step 5:

If the base of the reclining chair is made of wood, the cracks in the wood can be repaired with the application of wood glue and a clamp. Apply the wood glue, and then squeeze the area until the glue has dried completely. If the wooden base has been completely broken, the old one can be used as a pattern to make a new one, and the chair attached to it.

Step 6:

If the base is made of metal, and cannot be repaired, it may be possible to replace the base with more durable wood. With the metal base as a pattern to cut and create the wooden frame to fit the chair, and then adjust the chair to the new base.
Step 7:

If there are tears or holes in the cover, you can buy one that matches the original color, pattern, and material. Some patches are self-adhesive, cut the patch into shape, expose the adhesive, and soften the patch in place.

Other patches can be fixed with the fabric or another type of glue. Again, cut and paste the patch so that it fits in place, fix or apply weight until the glue dries completely.
