Jeffrey Cohen Optical Foretells Driverless Highways: Creating Cars that Talk to the Roads

(1888 PressRelease) Private equity president Jeff Cohen excites the industry by predicting the reality of driverless cars on the roads.

It might have started like empty futuristic talk but it seems that with more investment going into driverless car projects, the road experience is going to change pretty soon. The latest input on the ongoing debates comes from one of the most notable technology funders, Jeffrey Cohen.

During the launch of a major project funding at his Golden Pear Funding headquarters, Cohen was excited that things were moving fast with major brands working overtime to make driverless cars a reality.

"It might have sounded like a utopian thinking 10 years ago but now everyone is talking about their driverless cars hitting the road. Simply put, there is no going back on this with Toyota having confirmed its driverless car will be on the roads by 2020. In fact, Tesla has already indicated its project will enable driverless technology in its cars by 2018," Jeff Cohen said to raucous applause.

"In essence, we need to reduce the number of cars on the roads and this is one way of doing this. More importantly, the safety aspect involved is just too phenomenal to ignore. With over 2 million people in the U.S getting into accidents, it would be much safer to have cars that talk to the road," he added enthusiastically.

"With no drivers, the cars will need to see more in order to avoid crashes through cameras and sensor systems. Out future roads need to be intelligently built if these cars are to achieve the efficiency we are looking for, "he noted.

The benefits of driverless cars have been greatly debated including affordability of transport, reduced accidents, seamless traffic and fewer vehicles which helps reduce pollution while saving on energy use. The comments by Cohen who has invested heavily in futuristic projects are bound to reignite the debate especially with reports that the Uber fleet will be driverless by 2030.

Such ambitious projects have motivated Cohen who also heads the Cohen Group among other investors to invest heavily in driverless technology. By combining smart driverless technology with smart highways it is becoming increasingly clear that this technology is viable. With more funding, the projects, which are underway, might even meet deadlines and make this a reality.

The investment guru has also diversified into other areas including SME and specialty financing through his companies including Golden Pear Funding, Orchard Street Funding and Golden Pear Merchant Capital.
