Every country, every community, every culture has deep rooted traditions that are religiously followed so as to keep their essence alive. Here we have curated some of the wedding customs practised around the globe.

 
Every nation or community around the globe is deeply attached to the age old customs and traditions that have been followed ever since their discovery. The essence of all such customs is kept alive by religiously practising these traditions at various festivals and events especially weddings.

We previously made you familiar with some of the extraordinary traditions around the world.

Here we are again, with some more exciting wedding customs around the globe.

Korea:

According to a wedding tradition in Korea, the grooms were supposed to give their new mothers-in-law wild geese or ducks as a token of their pure intentions and loyalty to his bride. The times have changed and the tradition has seen a bit of modifications but its significance remains the same. The grooms today, are supposed to follow the tradition like it used to be done earlier. The only difference is that they exchange wooden geese and ducks so as to convey their loyalty towards their brides.

China:

This tradition is quite an interesting one. In southwest China, the bride-to-be is supposed to cry for an hour everyday starting a month before the D-day. By the end of the month she may be joined in by her mother and other females in the family. The custom is supposed to bring happiness, joy and love to the newlyweds’ life.

India:

India has long been known for it’s rich culture. There are a number of customs related to different festivals, occasions and even everyday lives that are believed to bring good luck and prosperity. When it comes to Indian weddings, there’s a tradition in which the brides and other female attendees are often dyed with intricate henna designs. Henna represents the joy, hope, and love of the occasion.Also, it is believed that the darker the colour gets, the stronger the bride’s relation with her mother-in-law grows.

Venezuela:

Venezuela has a rather astonishing wedding ritual where the bride and the groom are supposed to sneak away amidst the wedding reception. However, they have to make sure that no one catches them. The custom is believed to shower the couple with good luck and a happily married life. Just in case a guest catches on that they’re gone, he/she too is said to be blessed with good fortune.

Australia:

If you have an Australian friend and you are about to attend his her wedding, you’ll be asked to hold a stone in your hand throughout the ceremony. Once the wedding is over, you and the other guests will be asked to keep the stones in a decorative bowl that the Aussies call a ‘unity bowl’. The bowl is said to symbolize the support and presence of their friends and family and is a gentle reminder of the same.
