Huddersfield, UK (10th December, 2012) – Pod Space®, one of the UK’s most well-known designers and retailers of eco homes, received the Best Eco/Sustainability Build Award at the recent Northern Design Awards.

The Northern Design Awards is an annual ceremony bringing together northern designers, retailers and property developers to celebrate the year’s best achievements; in celebration of the ceremony’s 10th year, this was the biggest event yet, with 300 of the region’s most renowned designers and architects in attendance. The judging panel consisted of: Wayne Hemingway, founder of the famous Red or Dead brand; Linda Barker, who became a household name following her work on BBC1’s hit programme Changing Rooms; Geoff Alsop (RIBA Chairman); Nick Monroe; Jan Constantine; the editors of Livingetc and famed garden designer Diarmuid Gavin.

The ceremony took place at Manchester Central on Friday the 30th of November, and saw 21 awards handed out over three categories: Architecture & Build, Design in Retail, and Design. Pod Space was presented with the Best Eco/Sustainability Build Award, in honour of their Eco Holiday Retreat, which was designed to complement and enhance the natural environment in which it was set whilst providing the customer’s family with a comfortable, open-plan build to help them make the most of their time together. Featuring FSC Siberian larch cladding, E double-glazed energy glass windows, “A”-rated BRE steel panels and apex lights on the roof, the Eco Holiday Retreat is an innovative design Pod Space feels demonstrates their unique skillset.
