Steve Maman has gained more popularity and spotlight recently due to his ambitious project to rescue thousands of young women from ISIS and sex slavery. He started the mission eight months ago, under a project called the Liberation of Christian and Yazidi Children of Iraq or also known as C.Y.C.I. Along with the hard work and dedications, the team has over the project resulting in amazing achievement they got so far. They managed to save at least 100 young women from their captors and to provide them new opportunity to start their life all over again.

Steve Maman isn’t alone in doing the project. In fact, he has solid teams beside him to deliver the most effective and efficient method of rescuing these young women from their captors. The nonprofit organization was established on June 2015 with the main project is to negotiate the liberation of children and young women from being sold into sex slavery in Mosul. “We chose Christians and Yazidi because they are the ones held hostage after a fatwa authorized them to be used and sold as sex slaves for the benefit of ISIS (Daesh) combatants. I would have definitely added the Muslim children to my mission if they were part of this horror.”

As he was interviewed by a journalist, Steve Maman stated that the main goal of the project is to liberate as many as women and children from human trafficking across the Iraq, with the main target are Christian women and Yazidi children. And within 8 months of operation, the team has successfully helped many families out of the harm’s way. This is a great achievement for such non-profit organization like C.Y.C.I who goes independently from the fundraising until to the project execution as well as also the post-conflict management.

During the interview, he also stated that he isn’t the only one who funded the organization. The majority of Jews people across the nation have contributed in helping to sustain the organization funding. And the involvement of Jews people in the project is understandable especially with the fact that they have been a victim of holocaust decades ago. Today they become a helping hand to make sure no one will have experienced the situation similar to theirs.

And when asked about how much the organization has successfully collected in the particular year, he refused to disclose the actual data. Neither also when he was asked about the name of donators for his project. He said, ”This is a question that I cannot answer and won’t disclose. But things are moving very well. Jews have been incredibly supportive of the mission, the majority being Moroccan Jews.”
