Marian Nelson-Addy was part of the international relief workers team that was sent to Japan following the 7.3 magnitude earthquake in the Kumamoto region on the island of Kyushu. The 7.3 magnitude earthquake was the second quake to shake the area following a 6.4 magnitude earthquake that struck just the day before killing nine people and rendering tens of thousands homeless.

Various international aid agencies including the International Medical Corps and Peace Winds America sent teams to the region to help those who had lost everything they owned in the earthquake. Marian Nelson-Addy is a Christian humanitarian relief worker and has been working full-time with an NGO humanitarian relief agency in Bristol. She has traveled to several parts of the United States and other countries around the world providing much-needed relief to victims of natural disasters.

Marian Nelson-Addy grew up in Bristol and graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Social Sciences from the University College London. She was studying for her bachelor’s degree when hurricane Katrina made landfall in southeast Louisiana, and she was part of the team from Bristol that went to help victims of the hurricane. She grew up in a Christian home where both her parents were active in community service in Bristol. Watching both her parents help the poor and needy at the local community centers gave her the desire to build a career as a humanitarian relief worker.

Marian Nelson-Addy has traveled to several places like the Philippines, Namibia, and Nepal as a relief worker. Her desire to help people has given her the boldness and courage to go into places where natural disasters have wreaked havoc. She is a committed Christian and an active member of her local church. She enjoys going out with the church’s youth group to help the poor and needy in the community.
