Former Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) treasurer Anirudh Chaudhry shared that the Indian Premier League (IPL) should take place as it is not only important from the revenue point of view, but also for domestic cricketers too. He backed MS Dhoni, saying he is one of the greatest cricketing brains and he has a lot more to offer to Indian cricket still.

"It is the IPL Governing Council's decision, but my view is that effort has to be made to try and have that situation where the show must go on," Chaudhry shared during a Webinar arranged by Neerja Modi School on Zoom platform. "It is important for domestic players also. The revenue is also important from it."

The 13th edition of the IPL has now postponed for the indefinite time period due to the global pandemic novel COVID-19. It was earlier decided to start on March 29 but later postponed until April 15 too. On the other hand, there has been question on the T20 World Cup as well which is scheduled to take place in Australia in October and November due to the coronavirus pandemic and the global tournament is most likely to be postponed too.

Meanwhile, BCCI is looking for this window for the cash-rich league to host. When he was asked about the possibility of the IPL this year, Chaudhry said: "Even if the GC decides to shift the matches...it has to be in a country where time difference is not too much. Broadcasters will want that 8 pm slot. It is important for them."

However, he has shared his views on the former India captain Dhoni. He told that Dhoni is fit and he is the best wicketkeeper in India and one of the finest minds in the game as well. He also revealed that he would have him in the team if he would be a decision-maker.

Dhoni is one of the most celebrated players in the world cricket and under his captaincy, India won the world cup too.
