Berlin, January 17, 2022. Konvi, the Berlin-based investment platform opening up the alternative asset space for small investors successfully kicked off their first offering of a 250,000€ watch investment and sold all shares in only 8 weeks.

A 250,000€ watch owned by a number of small investors
Konvi has successfully kicked off their alternative investment platform with a super rare watch worth more than 250,000€ sourced by the world-wide biggest watch investment vehicle WatchFund. Since mid-November 2021, Konvi’s users were able to buy shares of an exclusive watch from 250€ and all available shares were fully sold out in only 8 weeks. The timepiece is insured and safely stored in a vault for the time of the 5-year holding period. Based on WatchFund’s past performance of more than 20% average return per year, the watch is likely to more than double in value in just 5 years. Investments are made into exclusive watch model such as the rare Lange & Söhne 1815 Tourbograph Perpetual Pour Le Mérite (only 50 pieces exist) sourced directly through WatchFund. Due to the rarity of these models, such watches have historically been very good value investments, however, due to high prices and investment requirements they have been out of reach for the broad population – thus, WatchFund accepts clients only with a minimum investment of 250,000€.

A new investment era
Retail investors are increasingly looking for new ways to invest and to diversify their financial portfolios. Konvi’s platform allows any retail investor to buy shares of exclusive assets such as rare watches, fine wine, and much more in the future. Thereby, the startup opens up an investment world for small investors that has previously been reserved for large and institutional investors only. The biggest benefits Konvi’s assets bring to investors are 1) high potential returns and 2) a low correlation to stocks, bonds and other mainstream assets. Rare collectible assets have historically performed very stable in times of crises while fine wine, watches and whiskey are also among the best long-term performing alternative assets according to Knight Frank’s annual wealth report. “The 60/40 stock/bond allocation rule is outdated; retail investors understand that they need to build a more diversified 21st century portfolio. It’s great to see such high demand from young investors taking their finances into their own hands very early on.” (Lena Sonnen, Co-Founder of Konvi).

What’s next?
Konvi is on a mission to make alternative investments accessible for everyone and to open up the exclusive investment space of the rarest investment pieces in the world. Thereby, the team behind Konvi is ready to bring not only watches and fine wine to retail investors but also whiskey, art, NFTs and collective cars are on the roadmap. After closing the first 250,000€ watch investment, Konvi already successfully launched the second offering last Wednesday: a diversified fine wine portfolio with CultWines of 65,000€ with a high-risk, high return investment strategy. Shares of the wine portfolio are already selling out fast. Konvi is accessible to all retail investors across the EU region.
