What Is Happening to The Latino Vote?

L’ATTITUDE team provides an insight into the Latino vote

Political and business leaders can no longer ignore the rapidly growing Latino population in the United States. Currently, the Latino population makes up just over 18% of the American total population, making them the largest minority group in the United States. They also represent around 17% of the local workforce and are thus making a major contribution to the local economy, not only with their labor but also their buying power. In short, this is a group of great interest to local politicians. Yet, while those in powerful positions like to make promises during political rallies and canvassing events, the question remains of what impact they will have on the future of Latinos in America.

“At the moment it is still evident that the Latino vote seems to be of minimal impact and that the power is still unequally distributed. Yet, we are excited about the promise that the latest developments in New York City are showing. The capital is known for inequality when it comes to Latino citizens. It has the largest population of Latinos in the nation but still the lowest presence of the group in executive positions. Now the new mayoral candidate, Scott Stringer is making all the right moves and sounds as he is the first to launch a Latino targeted campaign. Over the past couple of weeks, Stringer has been meeting with several prominent Latino officials and it seems that the New York politics might be in for a shift in favor of its Latino citizens,” says Andrea Trujillo, director of brand digital marketing to L’ATTITUDE.

He then further expands on the importance of getting an equal distribution of Latinos into leading positions where they make vital decisions impacting the local population. “If it is not personal to you, the odds are that you won’t provide support in favor of the Latino population. It is the kind of support that the group will only get from having Latinos present in these roles. It is also why it is so important to provide the vote to the right people, people willing to look after your interest with commitment and loyalty,” Trujillo further states.

While the team at L’ATTITUDE gained their reputation from hosting Latino events, their influence stretched much further and their team is always working to better the interest of the fast-growing group in the States. As Latinos are playing such a vital role in the health of the US economy, it is time that they also start to play a more influential role on the political front.
