Dr. Nick Oberheiden, co-founder of Dallas-based law firm Oberheiden & McMurrey, LLP announced today that he has taken over the defense of Daniel Holtzclaw in the federal civil cases currently pending in the United States District Court for the Western District of Oklahoma.

Daniel Holtzclaw is a former Oklahoma City police officer that was accused and ultimately convicted of various crimes committed while on duty as a police officer. Pending Daniel’s appeal of a 263-year prison sentence, several victims from the criminal case have filed lawsuits against the municipality of Oklahoma City, the Oklahoma City Police Department, and various individuals in the department, including Daniel individually. The lawsuits claim violations of the victim’s civil rights. Daniel’s case has been featured by media stations across the country and it is considered one of the most controversial investigations in recent Oklahoma history.
