Silicon has problems that when it gets hot, it expands and swells and that will hinder the battery. KoreaGraph however, are developing and testing numerous formulas, have now identified how to use graphene as a key ingredient to overcoming such obstacles.

KoreaGraph’s Chief Technology Officer commented on the graphene batteries via video-conference saying “Silicon is going to be the next-generation anode material for lithium-ion batteries and by adding graphene, the anode with silicon increases the lithium storage capacity and capability of the module by a factor of 10.”

“Silicon however, when charged and discharged expands and contracts, which stresses and fractures the module, eventually causing the battery to fail after just a few cycles of use, whereas graphene stabilizes the batteries allowing it to withstand over 300 cycles and have capacities that are 25% higher than any currently available alternative,” added the Chief Technology Officer of KoreaGraph.
