Client Reviews
Roberta did an excellent job! She arrived early. She is very professional and friendly. She took pictures for us after, with our cameras. I would recommend her to anyone!
As we were struggling to decide what to do for a ceremony, we waited until the last minute, and was delighted to meet with Justice Roberta. She put us at ease, gave us suggestions which showed her flexibility, and helped craft a ceremony that was perfect for us in less than a week! Many guests at the wedding commented on how wonderful and heart-felt they thought the ceremony was. Roberta arrived early and was very professional.
From the moment my wife and I met Roberta we knew she was the one who had to play one of the most important roles on our wedding day. Roberta is kind, compassionate and really takes the time to get to know your relationship. She then puts together an amazing ceremony. She put us as ease and we were completely comfortable. This is one person who I can truly say is in a job that they were meant to be in. The entire experience was exactly what we hoped for. As this was our only wedding we were unsure of the process and Roberta guided us through removing any stress! the ceremony was perfect and we've received so many compliments on how wonderful she was! The Lydon Chapel was always responsive to us and I would highly recommend that if you need a Justice of the Peace, you call and ask for Roberta! thank you Roberta for making out wedding day ceremony the most special part of the day.
Below are the steps to getting a one day marriage license...IT’S EASY!!!!!
First of all, you do not have to be a state resident to get married in Massachusetts,
but you must obtain a valid marriage license issued by a Massachusetts city or town
clerk. In addition to paying the application fee (which varies by city/town), each
person must bring proof of their age (a certified birth certificate, passport or other
document) and their Social Security number. *An out-of-state marriage license
cannot be used.
The waiting period for a Massachusetts Marriage License is usually three days
however in certain circumstances, one can seek to have the waiting period waived by
filing a request for a Marriage without Delay with the probate court or district court
in the city or town, or county where you originally applied for the license.
Please see links below for the Marriage without Delay application form and a list of probate and district courts you can apply at.
After the wedding ceremony is complete, whomever you chose to perform the ceremony must sign and return your marriage license to the city or town clerk where it was issued so it can be legally recorded. If you need a copy of your marriage certificate, you can get one from the Registry of Vital Records and Statistics.
