Pittsburgh, PA – March 12, 2020 – Today, following the Presidential address related to COVID-19, KbPort announced immediate availability of free access to SimEMR and Virtual MedsManager to assist educators and learners with their forced shift to Distance Learning models. The free access offer is extended to all educational institutions, worldwide, through June 1, 2020.
“We want to do everything we can to make this sudden transition to remote education easier for institutions and the faculty and students,” said Chuck Miller, President and CEO at KbPort.
Positive Impacts to the Educational Community
Many institutions have already benefitted from deploying SimEMR and Virtual MedsManager training initiatives. These tools provide the ability to teach objectives typically met by hands-on practice in a simulation lab or physical classroom setting.
SimEMR, a cloud-based, simulated electronic medical record solution, allows educators to create patient cases and distribute them to learners for hands-on practice with clinical documentation in the patient care context, from their remote workstations.
Virtual MedsManager, a stand-alone Windows-based software application, is a medication dispensation and administration simulator that works in conjunction with SimEMR. This allows educators to include med-admin objectives in their SimEMR patient cases, to provide remote learners with the ability to practice bedside administration without requiring access to physical tools.
KbPort is a leader in providing solutions for the medical simulation education market. The company offers a wide range of products and services designed to meet the needs of secondary, post-secondary, and continuing education programs in the healthcare space. KbPort is committed to providing educational institutions with the help they need during the COVID-19 crisis.
