While business are closing everyday this small business managed to reopen and remain strong amid a pandemic, Owner Joshica Kiah Craig shares her story

(Washington, DC)- The world has been plagued with one of the worst epidemic in history, causing uncertainty and extreme challenges for small business. The economy has been turned upside down and small businesses where amongst the first to suffer. Business everywhere have lost employees, millions of dollars and have permanently closed. It was a business owners worst nightmare, but not for Joshica Kiah Craig, owner of Joshica Beauty, a luxury natural hair and skincare brand that celebrates black natural hair and self-care. For Joshica she found this as an opportunity to re-open her business on-line and find innovative ways to reach her customers.

Joshica started her luxury beauty brand in 2015 and since then decided to take a hiatus after suffering from a mental breakdown do to the stress of maintaining a work-home live balance. Now refreshed, with renewed energy and self-awareness, she’s decided to come back strong with an important message of self-love and self-care. Joshica Beauty began with her journey to living naturally after she became pregnant with her son. The dangers of harsh chemicals became more apparent than ever, and all-natural products were the only option. Unable to find products that truly nourished natural hair, Joshica launched Joshica Beauty.

More than a brand of luxurious hair and skin care but a brand that focuses building a community beyond hair. She believes in growing your hair while growing your self worth and taking care of your mental, physical and emotional well being through the use of self-care. Joshica Beauty is more than a brand of hair and skin care but a brand that cares about inspiring ways to care for your well-being and inspiring the next generation of black women to have a healthy relationship with themselves.

“ The COVID-19 pandemic has allowed me to realize the importance of owning my own business and generating generational wealth. With millions of people losing their jobs they were helpless and dependent on the government system in order to recover. I learned that it’s important to be financially independent and building a business is the first step in achieving that. During the COVID-19 pandemic I had to adapt by finding various ways to connect with my customers. I've become more engaged with my customers on social media and have focused more on the importance of self-care in this time of isolation. The COVID-19 pandemic has caused me to adapt new practices in my business operations like shifting my natural hair meet-up group to on-line hair events and online shopping events via social media. Most importantly I’ve realized that people need emotional support and I want to be that presence that offers positive reinforcements. That is why I’ve re-launched my business with a focus on self-care and self-esteem building. I post a “Self-care Saturday" video on Instagram stories every week to ensure that customers take care of their mental, physical and emotional well being through the use of self care practices. I also post “Froday” Friday videos to encourage black women to embrace their natural hair and find ways to love who they are. Suffering from a mental break down has caused me to want to share why self-care is important and that you don’t have to face life’s challenges alone. This global pandemic has inspired me to focus on achieving business ownership, financial independence and inspiring others to be their best self.”

With many businesses unable to recover from COVID-19 Joshica Beauty is thriving and continuing to grow because she shares a universal message of personal growth and learning to adapt and grow in the midst of difficulty.
