How to solve the LED sports lighting

Sports venues create a richer and more engaging atmosphere by changing the color of the facility's lighting. This approach is called color temperature adjustment. While red, blue, or green light shines on the floor (also known as RGB adjustment), indoor sports venues often use more subtle applications that shine white light on the venue to showcase the best drops. Change the color of the white space called white balance.

White light exists in many different colors, with units of measurement. The lower the K value, the more warm the white tone is and the more yellow it is. For example, light from an incandescent light bulb has a color temperature of 2800K. Higher color temperatures indicate that white light has a colder, bluer hue. It is generally believed that 5600K is the daylight color temperature at noon.

For multi-purpose indoor venues, white color temperature is an important consideration, because, in different white light, different sports look better. The wood tone of the basketball courts and the skin exposed by the players appear to be more active under warm white lighting (around 4000K). However, hockey ice cubes were dull and dirty at 4000K, but hockey ice cubes looked crisp and clear when illuminated with a 5600K light.

So, for a stadium hosting multiple events, using a single lighting system to create multicolored white light is a challenge.

The white dimming challenge in an indoor area

Most light sources and fixtures emit white light under the target light. In the past, two different lighting systems were needed to light up the arena to create the best conditions for basketball and hockey matches while maintaining the lighting levels of the arena. This is usually done with a metal halide system with a color temperature of about 5000K and with a high-pressure sodium lamp illumination system in the 2600K-2800K range.

Coordination of the two lighting systems to get the desired light color on the pitch. For a hockey game, only a 5000K metal halide lamp can be used to illuminate the ice, producing the coolest color temperature the system can deliver but still failing to reach the optimum 5600K. In order to improve the lighting color of basketball games, some metal halide lamps should be used in conjunction with high-pressure sodium systems. The mix of 5000K and 2700K lamps creates a lighting color temperature on the pitch that falls somewhere in the range. This inaccurate and imperfect dual-system approach has long been the only option the arena hopes to achieve with its white balance.

New LED sports lighting solution

LED materials, design, and control advances LED lamps can emit different colors of white light. These tinted LED sports luminaires combine two LED light sources of different color temperatures (3500K and 6500K) and then adjust the power entering the different color diodes to produce an accurate color temperature. The multi-purpose arena now shows hockey in a 5600K environment, shows basketball in a 4000K environment, and maintains optimum levels of lighting at the venue. All of this can be achieved with an energy-efficient white LED motion lighting system. LED Underwater Fishing Lights https://www.eneltec-led.com/led-marine-lights/led-underwater-fishing-lights.html
