The leading service station equipment supplier continue to spread awareness of becoming EMV-compliant

East Providence, RI: Visa has delayed the EMV liability shift deadline for automatic fuel dispensers from October 1, 2020, to April 17, 2021. The postponement is in response to requests sent by the various associations to major credit card networks, urging them to delay the deadline due to the coronavirus pandemic.

The COVID-19 outbreak has caused an unequivocal economic impact on the U.S. economy. Amidst the lockdown, convenience stores played a crucial role in meeting the essential needs of American consumers, and the delayed deadline will enable them to keep serving the community in these testing times.
John W. Kennedy Company is a leading service station equipment provider that continued supplying top-quality equipment and supplies to fuel stations and convenience stores to operate effectively during the pandemic. The company is encouraging gas station and c-store owners to become EMV compliant before the new deadline.

Speaking about the EMV deadline shift, a representative of the company stated: “The new deadline shift is welcoming news for gas stations and convenience store businesses. We have played an active role in promoting the EMV chip technology and always highlighted the importance of upgrading the POS system to meet compliance.

We’re encouraging gas station and c-store to become EMV compliant before the new deadline. It’s most likely the last deadline push, so missing the new date will subject them to potential liabilities.”
After April 17 the next year, the gas stations and c-stores that don’t become EMV-compliant will be solely responsible for fraudulent transactions. Surprisingly, the vast majority of fuel retailers are still non-compliant. Two-third of them don’t even have EMV card readers installed.

“John W. Kennedy Company strives to help gas stations and c-store become compliant to prevent financial losses due to fraudulent transactions,” the representative further added.

The company offers a wide range of replacement parts and fuel equipment to gas stations all across the United States. The company is currently offering a curbside order pickup facility to help businesses pick up their orders safely while maintaining social distancing.
