Mass Heat Group, a direct competitor of both Mass Energy and Devaney, would like to announce its heating oil co-op savings plan.

When eligible customers sign up to be part of a heating oil co-op, they can save up to 35 cents per gallon of fuel. Unlike Mass Energy and Devaney, Mass Heat Group uses its group buying power for the direct benefit of its customers. The company’s buying power only increases with new membership, thus lowering the price to all customers.

Residents of approximately 50 communities in the Massachusetts/New England area are eligible for membership in Mass Heat Group's fuel oil co-op. There is no cost to become a member and applications are located on the company's website or by calling to request one. The application consists of providing contact information, fill pipe information, tank size and credit card information. All orders must be paid in advance by credit card before a delivery will be scheduled. Customers who don't know their tank size or where it is located can contact Mass Heat Group for additional assistance.

The price of a gallon of fuel oil can change daily, so Mass Heat Group continuously monitors pricing to insure that its customers are getting the lowest price possible. At Mass Energy and Devaney, customers pay the same amount even if the price of oil decreases. However, their prices increase when oil prices increase and are not affected by discounts either company is able to obtain as part of a wholesale buying group. At Mass Heat Group, the company takes advantage of its strong connections with the wholesale community and passes the savings along to its customers. Although the concept of a co-op is not new, Mass Heat Group is the first in the area to use it to reduce oil prices for customers.
