21st December 2011 - Team Building means making a perfect and a strong team. It refers to a wide range of activities, presented to business firms, schools, any other profitable or non-profitable organizations etc. to improve team performance. It is very important for any business. The main focus is to bring out the best in a team for self-development, positive communication, leadership skills and the ability to work in a team, closely together so as to solve a problem.
There are many ways to build a good team. So many activities and exercises are there which can enhance the performance of a team. It can be done in a small group or at a bigger level. It is like to make the work place home away from home. These fun games and group exercises not only enhance the performance but also spreads unity and positive morale among their employees in their daily work place. One has to plan very carefully these sessions. Poorly planned sessions can make employees cynical and jaded.
Training has to be fun, engaging and help in change the future behavior of the employees. Participants in these programs are supposed to gain the trust, improve communication and develop the skills that would lead to a more cohesive team environment. It can be a fun team bonding activity or a development process. 4 main patterns of these exercises are: 1) communication exercise- an exercise that highlights the importance of good communication. 2) Problem solving or decision making: to make them work as a team and come up with a creative solution. 3) Planning or adaptability – for showing the importance of planning before implementing the solution. 4) Trust – for creating trust among them.
All organizations work well with the help of a team that is well connected and bonded. For development of any organization, a team may embark on a process of self-assessment to gauge its effectiveness and improve its performance. A team gets feedback from its group members to find out strengths and weakness. A development of a team is a development of an organization. The latest success mantra of today is to make the best team and hire the best leader and you will touch the sky.
When a leader leads an organization, only growth counts. Growth is based on long term goals not a short term benefits. So incorporating Team Building events into the overall structure of the organization can yield long term positive results.
