The hair that naturally grows on black people that are from Africa is also known as Kinky hair. Most black people have coily, curly, kinky, nappy hair as their hair texture.

12th March 2012 - Kinky hair can be arranged in a variety of different forms. The forms that suit a person best can vary from person to person. Many of the Afro American people would like to relax their hair and go into a transition phase. However, this change over can take a long time, close to four years. Hence, it is easier to adapt to the existing natural hair by the use of certain styles that can used and changed often.
Many people would like to get all their hair braided into small braids so that it looks better and is a lot more manageable. Afro hair being frizzy and with less moisture, the more tangled it can get. Many types of braid are used. Box braids are very common. Braids can also have some adornments like colored beads. This also helps the braids to hold better.
Tree braids form a good styling to hair. These braids give the natural look of hair extensions; these are different from micro braids. Micro braids require some kind of knotting or holding mechanism. The tree braids hold because the hair is pulled through the braids and hence it holds better.
All kind of braiding can lead to some form of hair loss. To prevent this hair loss one can make use of any system other than micro braiding systems so that the hair lost during pulling the hair to braid is less. Since this type of hair is fragile, the gap between the relaxed hair and the natural hair is very less and can easily break. Hence, to prevent this, it is best to keep the hair moist always by making use of good hair products.
If you need to grow your kinky hair then make use of box braids. Box braids help in the growth of the hair because they have a standard to grow against. Box braids makes use of synthetic hair sometimes to convert from three strand braids to two strand braids. Keeping the hair clean through any of the braiding process is extremely important. The use of petroleum-based products must be avoided as it can block the pores and prevent hair growth.
