Critical Thinking Skills for Students

Posted April 1, 2020 by jitendra1

Despite hearing so much about critical thinking all these years, I realize that I still can't give a concrete definition of it, and I certainly can't say how to do it. It seemed that my teachers had expected us to choose it during our studies

What is it, how do we do it, why is it important, and how can we improve it? This post is my attempt to answer those questions.

In addition to answering these questions, I will also offer seven ways that you can start thinking critically today, both in the classroom and outside.

What is critical thinking?
"Critical thinking is an intellectually disciplined process of conceptualizing, applying, analyzing, synthesizing, and/or evaluating, actively and efficiently collecting information collected from experience, reflection, reasoning or communication. .”. "

- The Foundation for Critical Thinking

The above definition from the Foundation for Critical Thinking website is very worrying, but critical thinking, in short, is not that complicated.

Critical thinking is just deliberate and systematic processing of information so that you can make better decisions and generally understand things better. The above definition includes a lot of words because critical thinking requires you to apply a variety of intellectual tools to a variety of information.
