During a recently held art event, one of the managers at IvoryAndArt Gallery informed, “We not only supply legal mammoth ivory figurines, tusk and jewelry to our customers worldwide, but we also offer Meissen porcelain figurines. Meissen porcelain became the first European produced hard-paste porcelain to appear in 1710. The production of this porcelain was established in Meissen, an area near Dresden. It then attracted artisans who went on to form one of the most famous porcelain manufacturing companies, which created a variety of items, including Meissen porcelain figurines that became widely acclaimed.”

IvoryAndArt Gallery carries the Meissen porcelain items from one of the oldest trademarks in existence. The art gallery has these items from different eras that it preserves by paying utmost attention to their authenticity and quality. Some of these Meissen porcelain figurines include the rare 19th-century Decanter and Saucer, Candelabras - Hebe & Ganymede with Golden Eagle, Cupid Bound in Roses, Ring Around the Tree, Cupid Sewing Broken Heart, Group of Children, Monkey Band – The Trumpeter, and Cherub Feeding Doves.

Additionally, the manager shared, “Despite Johann Friedrich Böttger holding the title as the first manufacturer of Meissen porcelain, Augustus II is known to be the driving force behind the creation of Meissen porcelain figurines. This is because the kings of Saxony and Poland wished to fill their palaces with porcelain objects, including a collection of hundreds of life-size animals. Johann Joachim Kändler created these figurines, sculpting harlequins and other Italian commedia dell’arte and theatrical Meissen figurines, as well as the caricatures of the members of Augustus III’s court.”

During the 18th century, Meissen figurine consisted greatly of animals. In the 19th century, it was modernized by Ernst August Leuteritz who reissued many of the rococo figurines, creating the Second Rococo characterized by lacework details and applied flowers. These are referred to as Dresden porcelain. In the year 1903, Erich Hösel revived and reinterpreted some old styles and18th-century models. After the State of Saxony imposed restrictions on the artistic movement in the year 1933, Meissen recovered and regained its artistic feel in 35 years. IvoryAndArt Gallery carries a variety of Meissen items from all these time periods.
