The principals and teachers have received an official letter from the CBSE talking about the future of education and the introduction of three new subjects.

The world has been hit by a pandemic and the only cure is prevention. Lockdowns have been imposed everywhere and children being fragile have been strictly asked not to attend schools and stay at home in seclusion. In the ongoing Covid19 situation, the Central Board of Secondary Education does not want to waste time, caliber and efforts of children, teachers or parents. At no cost, education of students shall be compromised. With constant planning and efforts, CBSE has made plans to combat the situation and make necessary amendments. The principals and teachers have received an official letter from the CBSE talking about the future of education and the introduction of three new subjects. The months when new sessions should have initiated have arrived, but with the present lockdowns and anticipation of its expansion, you may be wondering how the girls’ school will catch up when the country overcomes the present situation.

Read below some of the top details mentioned in the letter regarding the changes:

1) Focus shift is requested. The shift involves moving from the concept of instructing only at schools’ to school-home collaboration for learning’. This should be taken as an opportunity to cross the mental hurdle of thinking that only traditional methods can work. Modern parent-teacher meetings and parent’s participation at a much deeper level and long-term relationship in student’s progress can lead to an upward curve.

2) Head centric role learning must be evolved and made experiential. Now is the time to reintroduce learning by doing’, to shift the burden away from traditional and lengthy theoretical education.

3) Lockdown should be taken as an opportunity to take lessons in space management, time management, and self-management. Just like CBSE, a school in Patna advises children to participate in the upkeep of their homes. This shall be a catalyst in making them understand responsibility regarding the management of classrooms, labs, and libraries and also help them to nurture their environment better in the future.

4) The benefit and significance of greeting with folded hands or Namaste, food habits and the Ayurveda systems, Yoga, etc. are being embraced by the whole world to fight Corona. Following the same path, students should be encouraged to do projects on Indian art, language, and culture to learn aspects of culture.

5) Technology should be embraced. CBSE has also said that optimum use of technology to connect with students and parents, upholding online classes synced with the normal timetable that was followed while in school, without proper planning and preparation from teachers, parents, and students, may create more chaos and give stress without any positive outcomes.

6) CBSE has requested principals to inform teachers and students about the Arogya Steu app. HRD Ministry secretary wrote to government organizations and bodies like UGC, NIOS, etc. about the Arogya Set app. Receiving the instruction, CBSE requested the school principals to inform teachers, students and staff members about the same. All can download the Arogya Setu app from both, app store as well as the play store. The application has been developed by the government of India in a public-private partnership to combat the pandemic.
