Animals play an important role in everyone's life. Today, one in two European households owns a pet. In the vast majority of cases, it is often a dog or cat. Are they better than selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors (SSRI)?

Nowadays, the pet is not only an animal that awaits our company but a true partner of emotional exchanges. These animals are often even anchored in the family unit. They are also receptive to human emotions.

Animals play an important role in everyone's life. Today, one in two European households owns a pet. In the vast majority of cases, it is often a dog or cat. We can also cite the bird and the small mammal such as the ferret, the rabbit, hamster, etc.

The animal is without question our best health ally! Indeed, the cat, the dog, the bird ... are health enhancers in our daily life.
Recent scientific studies have been carried out on the benefits of having a pet.
The study shows that pets, especially cats and dogs, are able to establish a means of communication with humans. Hence the birth of a real relationship, full of complicity between the animal and the man. Whether it is for mental or physical health, the pet is important. In adults, it is an essential factor for staying fit and healthy.
Let's focus on a particular example:
More recent American studies have shown that the intensiveness of connectivity people with the companion of animals contributed to better managing a mental health condition, particularly in times of crisis.
As an example, walking a dog every day for a few minutes protects us from gaining on average 1.23 pounds and therefore feeling better. But that's not all, pets also help reduce anxiety and stress. For the elderly, animals facilitate daily outings. There is no shortage of good reasons to adopt a pet.

Moreover pet business is growing significantly. In 2019, $75.38 billion was being spent on our pets in the U.S. only! There is no doubt that we should invest in our little friends but let's make it smart and pay for the meat instead of wheat when buying cat/dog food.
