Novel coronavirus and COVID-19 have hardly hit the hotel and tourism industry. It’s obvious that no one is travelling unless it is very urgent. During the lockdown, this was not even possible. This is almost four months, the hotels across the country are either completely locked or just keeping their doors open. Since the flow of revenues from different services has literally stopped, hotel owners are unable to meet the daily expenses or pay the salaries of the employees. Many workers have lost their jobs as well.
Guru Swarup Srivastava thinks this condition shouldn’t be allowed to continue for a long time. If continues, the scenario will be scary. Lakhs of workers in this industry will lose jobs within the next 90 days. Not only that lakhs of people indirectly related to this industry will be forced to leave their jobs or close their businesses. In the webinar arranged by Ravi Ebates, Sumangalam, and Apex solutions, chief guest, Guru Swarup Srivastava urged the hoteliers to find newer ways of earning revenues. He showed an example of virtual weddings. During the lockdown, the trend of virtual wedding has increased quite a lot. After these weddings, the families or new couples will try to through wedding parties in the hotels to avoid the hazard of arranging parties in the residences. This is an opportunity for hotels to earn good revenues from this source.
This was indeed a new and almost unexplored avenue of attracting customers. The other dignitaries present in the webinar also supported this view. They opined that the safety of the customers should be the priority during this pandemic condition. Customers will visit the hotels if they find the hotels safe for them. At the same time, the dignitaries present in the webinar consent, customer service needs to be more dynamic and up-to-date.
Guru Swarup Srivastava is often invited in different discussions across the industries. Everyone knows about his influential ideas and helping nature. He is a successful businessman, an art lover, and a social worker. His experience in planning and implementing new ideas is often discussed in different forums. This time also, his idea regarding the survival of the hotel and tourism industry is whole-heartedly welcomed.
