Attorney Grant Gisondo can now proudly explain the benefits of holding Board Certification in Marital and Family Law. With over a decade of successful practice in Family Law, Attorney Gisondo can now add Board Certification to his list of accomplishments. Only 1% of Florida lawyers practicing Family and Marital Law have received the Florida Bar recognition of board-certified. To become board certified, a lawyer must have been practicing in their field of law for at least five years and must be evaluated by peers for professionalism, expertise, and ethical practice in that chosen field. Additionally, a lawyer must pass an extensive examination by the Florida Bar, whose motto in granting board certification is “Evaluated for Professionalism, Tested for Expertise.” Attorney Gisondo worked long and hard for this honor and to be able to put BCS (Board Certified Specialist) behind his name.

The field of Marital and Family Law has expanded considerably over the years, with nearly 50% of marriages ending in divorce. Also, it is estimated that 50% of the children in the US will witness the divorce of their parents, which will then result in child support and parental timesharing arrangements. All of this, plus the increasing demand for pre and post-marital agreements, adoption, and bankruptcy, makes the field of marital and family law challenging and ever-changing. The more qualifications a lawyer has, the better they can interpret the law and keep up with its changes.

In addition to expertise in a lawyer’s field of law, there is the aspect of professionalism and ethics. News reports are frequently exposing the unethical practices of a lawyer in one situation or another. How is a client to know if they can trust a legal professional with their problems and need for a realistic outcome? How can a client rely on a lawyer to charge a fair fee and not, for example, draw the case out longer than necessary to gain more money? A lawyer who has earned board certification is one who can be trusted to truly put the interests of their clients first. Attorney Gisondo’s Mission Statement shows his intentions as to how he views his clients and his practice: “We are a guiding light through even the darkest of situations which result in solutions. I provide clients going through a tough time with a light at the end of a tunnel. I counsel clients about good decisions in both their emotional and financial futures.”
