Lenovo India, today, refreshed its gaming laptop series with the launch of the Legion Y530 and Legion Y730 laptops. These devices offer the new bezel-less design and some top-of-the-line specification for high-end gaming. Further, both Legion Y530 and Y730 are fitted with dual channel thermal system that keep the temperature of the laptops under check during peak performance. lenovo-legion-y530As for the specifications, the Legion Y530 sports a 15-inch Full HD IPS display, whereas the Legion Y730 comes with a slightly bigger 17-inch display. Both the panels have the optional 144Hz refresh rate in FHD and up to 300nits brightness level. While the Legion Y530 features a full-sized high response white backlit keyboard, the Legion Y730 comes with the latest Corsair iCUE RGB backlit keyboard. The laptops are powered by 8th-generation Intel Core i7-8750H processor paired with up to 32GB DDR4 of RAM and up to 512GB PCIe NVMe storage and 2TB HDD.

All the connectivity ports, including USB-C, HDMI, Mini DisplayPort, Ethernet, and a USB-A 3.1 are placed on the extended bar behind the display hinge.Lenovo has priced the Legion Y530 in India at Rs 85,799, and it goes for sale starting today in single Raven Black colour option. On the other hand, the price of Legion Y730 hasn’t been revealed yet, but the brand has announced that it’ll go for sale by September-end.

All three laptops in this review use Intel’s Core i7-8750H hexacore processor (that means six cores!), which was previously unheard of in a laptop and requires some clarification. Hexacores on laptops — at least the current eighth-generation chip Intel produces — won’t always run at max clock speed, but instead, a stable baseline is established for each laptop, with consideration for the cooling system used. Regardless, you’ve got six cores and 12 threads at your disposal, so when the system detects an intensive task, it kicks up the fans and reaches for the 4.1GHz upper clock speeds (Intel Turbo Boost), before finally cooling down again as needed.This is not unlike how Turbo Boost works on nearly all Intel Core i chips, but it’s worth paying attention to because you’re dealing with far more than the usual processing power placed in a laptop, while also trying not to burn a hole through the chassis… or your lap.
