Der Galaxy Note-Reihe kommt in der Smartphone-Geschichte eine besondere Rolle zu: Hat Samsung damit doch die Tür für deutlich größere Displays aufgestoßen. Anfänglich von vielen Kommentatoren für diese "Phablets" noch verlacht, folgten andere Hersteller dem Trend schon bald. Das Ergebnis: Jene 5,3 Zoll, die den Bildschirm des ersten Notes noch riesenhaft anmuten ließen, werden mittlerweile von vielen Herstellern bei den kleineren Ausgaben ihrer Smartphones geboten. Unterdessen haben sich natürlich auch Samsung-Smartphones weiterentwickelt, und dies führt nun zu einem Gerät mit einmal mehr ziemlich beeindruckenden Eckdaten: Dem Galaxy Note 9. Mit seinem 6,4 Zoll-Bildschirm ist das Note 9 nämlich noch einmal eine Spur größer als sein Vorgänger, das noch mit 6,3 Zoll auskam. Immerhin führt Samsungs aktuelle Design-Linie mit den recht schmalen Rändern ober- und unter unterhalb des Displays dazu, dass die resultierende Größe des Geräts mit 161,9 x 76,4 x 8,8 mm nicht komplett aus dem Ruder läuft, und auch subjektiv kaum vom Note 8 zu unterscheiden ist. Trotzdem bleibt es damit nicht gerade ein handliches Gerät, womit es für viele schon an dieser Stelle ausscheiden könnte. Ganz generell fällt positiv auf, dass Samsung nicht einfach den aktuellen Trend zu Display-Ausschnitten ("Notch") kopiert, wie es derzeit so viele Hersteller tun, sondern eigenen Design-Ansätzen verhaftet bleibt.

Und bei all dem setzt sich der Hersteller natürlich das Ziel, nur das Beste vom Besten zu verbauen, immerhin handelt es sich beim Note 9 um das aktuelle am stärksten ausgestattete Gerät aus eigener Fertigung. In der Realität wird das Samsung-Smartphone diesem Anspruch weitgehend gerecht, auch wenn es durchaus spezifische Schwächen gibt. Ein Traum von einem Bildschirm Ein absolutes Highlight ist einmal mehr der Bildschirm des Note 9: Der 6,4 Zoll Super AMOLED liefert mit seinen 2.960 x 1.440 Pixel eine gestochen scharfe, farbintensive und leuchtstarke Darstellung. Dass Samsung derzeit einfach die besten Displays in der gesamten Branche baut, ist kein Geheimnis, und das unterstreicht das Note 9 wieder einmal auf beeindruckende Weise. Gleichzeitig muss aber angemerkt werden, dass sich die Änderungen im Vergleich zum Vorjahresmodell weitgehend in einem Rahmen bewegen, den die meisten Nutzer mit freiem Auge wohl kaum bemerken werden. Kamera kommt bekannt vor Es gibt aber auch eine ganz andere Perspektive auf das neue Samsung-Smartphone: Im Vergleich zum S9 gibt es genau genommen nur sehr wenige Unterschiede.
