As beginners there is a common mistake we all make when learning how to wear krawatten. When we get the first knot done well and right, we tend not to undo it until we wear it the next time and repeat the same action for various occasions. What we do is we make loops which would be large enough for our heads to slip through, and the krawatte is then kept hanging in our wardrobes for the next quick use. This is the main reason why the krawatten wouldn’t have a longer shelf life say fashion experts, and that’s what we would like to talk to you about today. So please read on and be well informed for the same.

Making a loop and leaving the krawatte is the worst thing we could do, what we should rather do is to get the krawatte properly united and hung in a safe place. This is in fact where beginners and experience wearers alike would agree their fault lies. One doesn’t have the time or the inclination to do this ritual which takes nothing more than a few seconds, and a ritual which would ensure that that krawatte lives longer. You have to pay attention here if you want your krawatten to look good and last longer, or else sooner or later when the needs arises, you wouldn’t have a krawatte to wear.

Don’t yank and hastily remove the krawatte after the job is done, you should gently untie the knot just as you did while tying it. If you have a krawatte made of silk, there would be creases and wrinkles that would make the krawatte look dilapidated and worn out, even if it has been worn for a couple of minutes as well. What you should do in such cases are the following steps mentioned to make your silk krawatte look good when you untie it;

1. Hold the narrow end of the krawatte; use your thumb to do so. And let the wide end hang loose.

2. Now take the wide end and wrap it around your hands twice or thrice

3. And now place the wrapped krawatte on a surface which is flat.

Doing this would ensure that your krawatten look great every time you want them for use. And this would also bring them less damage when you put them in suitcases that are crowded. Some times we forget the stains of beverages and foods left on our krawatten. They can remain permanently there and would ruin the fabric in the long run. Don’t forget to take them to the laundry and let them use their expertise on stain removals. But the shiny feel and look could also be lost when they use their expertise, hence be careful.

Now that you know what you should and shouldn’t do when managing your krawatten, go ahead and look after your “babies” for a longer shelf life with care. Remember, krawatten make a man’s personality glow, don’t rub that off any time soon!
