A few days ago, Prime Minister Muscat revealed details of an encounter with his Chief of Staff Keith Schembri. He stated that Schembri had offered his resignation letter to the Prime Minister amidst speculation of potential health problems. The Prime Minister was already aware of various reports emerging regarding his Chief of Staff’s health problems in the past few years and sympathizes with his current condition. However, the request was quickly jibed off since the work Schembri has been putting in for the government is tremendous. Various reports ascertain that illness wasn’t one of the major reasons for Schembri’s resignation request; he just wanted to set aside his problems from that of the government’s and didn’t want anything wrong happening amidst the proceedings on his behalf. Nevertheless, the Prime Minister has officially revealed his attentions and has offered his utmost support for Schembri on all fronts.

Speaking at a press conference at MCAST Campus in Paola, Joseph Muscat was questioned regarding Schembri’s email that was sent a few weeks ago regarding a pertinent resignation approval. In response to such questions, the Prime Minister proclaimed his urgency in regularly turning down such a request and as a surprise to many in attendance, Muscat offered his assistance rather than leaving his comrade at the mercy of the enemy’s max. Muscat also brushed aside any reference to his close friendship with Keith Schembri; various reporters questioned the Prime Minister’s decision to turn down Schembri’s resignation, instigating the idea that he intentionally did what he had to do on the basis of nothing more than that of a successful friendship. He replied, “When someone needs support, you don’t throw him away.”

In response to questions regarding the FIAU reports, Muscat condemned The Malta Independent for twisting and misinforming the public on the basis of ill-based leaks that didn’t dignify any form of governmental error in any way substantiated. The said newspaper published outrageous reports linking Konrad Mizzi and Keith Schembri in a major uncertainty with regards to the budget allocation and its preferred usage. The Prime Minister clarified this confusion by stating the rightful allocation of the budget for various sectors of developmental reforms set forth by his government since attaining office. Muscat clearly doesn’t believe in partisan politics and for him, the future of Malta concerns him the most and he is giving everything to seal a successful tenure for future generations to come.
