Formally launched in December, the website offers a small range of products which have been carefully hand-picked by The Caregiving Cornerstone founder, Patricia Pugliese.

When asked what inspired the launch, Patricia notes that The Caregiving Cornerstone Boutique is designed to offer products for sale that brighten and enrich the lives of people with low vision and hearing loss.

It is estimated that one in eight people in the United States (13 percent, or 30 million) aged 12 years or older have hearing loss in both ears, based on standard hearing examinations. Meanwhile, approximately 14 million Americans aged 12 years and older have self-reported visual impairment defined as distance visual acuity of 20/50 or worse. Among them, more than 11 million Americans could have improved their vision to 20/40 or better with refractive correction.

Patricia further recounts a personal experience, noting that "Just before Thanksgiving one year, my husband, Ed, was given a sound enhancer to 'just try' by a lovely lady at the Braille institute in Vista, California. It literally changed his life! He could suddenly participate in the Holiday conversation at the dinner table and enjoy those around him for the first time in years. The loneliness and isolation of his life was no more. He was smiling and relaxed again."

The curated selection is primarily based on Patricia's own positive experiences with some of the products during her sixteen years as a caregiver. The website's offerings are further influenced by the opinions and reviews of patients and caregivers who have shared their insights with The Caregiving Cornerstone Boutique's suppliers. The website's products are currently available to customers located in the United States and Canada although Patricia has mentioned plans to expand and accommodate more countries later on.
