Lord Ganesha, the primary god in Hindu pantheon is worshipped as a deity of unity, wisdom and a remover of obstacles. It is said that by worshipping Raja Ganesha Viraajman one can achieve ultimate bliss, protection, perfection and enjoyment of life. This sculpture is carved with absolute perfection with each and every line conjuncting in amazing patterns to form realistic formations. The deity sits like a ‘raja’ on his royal singhasan etched in multiple layered carvings of varied petal designs along with a heighted circular footrest in the front. His throne is decorated with two cushions each on both side and a long designer arch as the backdrop; the pillars are embellished with elegant beaded pattern and as you scroll up, you will be enthralled by the leafy patterns chiseled in coiled floral lines.
He is garbed in a loose pleated dhoti having a striated border and a loose kamarband that is tied beneath his unconventionally carved belly. Chaturbhuja is graced with large luxurious necklaces of varied sizes that rest on his flat belly and matching bracelets adorning his hands; right hand is held high in abhaya mudra and left holds the motichoor laddoo while posterior hands carry his iconic weapons, pasa and noose to demolish the evils for a happy mankind.
Although every Ganesha idol is carved in its run-of-the-mill iconography, but what makes one different from other is the perfection in minute detailings and distinctive carvings of his features. Having a left side tilted trunk Ganesha at home enables to have success and happiness; this idol is scored with a blooming lotus flower at the top descended by a thick leafy stem along the trunk. The deeply striated flappy ears and richly carved flower aureoled crown determine sculptor’s neatness and uniqueness of work; the trishula symbol on forehead is a mark of his patronage. Placing a sitting idol at home or place of work, symbolizes that he has come to stay and bless.
