Described as one of the oldest cultures in Southeast Asia, Vietnam embodies a culture of significant historical influence, blended with today's modern twists. Here are some interesting facts about Vietnamese culture.

1. Religion

Religions in Vietnam historically have been identified primarily by the combination of Buddhism, Confucianism, and Taoism, known in the Vietnamese language as the Three Teachings ("three religions"). Catholicism is also practiced in modern Vietnam. In fact, this means that images of different deities can be found in temples and temples throughout Vietnam, while the spoken and symbolic properties of yin and yang are common. Ancestral worship is common in Vietnamese culture. Most Vietnamese, regardless of their religious affiliation, worship ancestors and have an altar at their home or business, a testimony to the emphasis on Vietnamese culture of filial piety.

4. Traditional costume - Non La + Ao Dai

Non la is a cone of Vietnamese cones all over the world. In fact, the image of these bamboo hats was seen in Vietnamese art some 3,000 years ago.
There are many traditional things to Vietnam that impress people from all over the world. Ao Dai is one of them. It is a dress, long on black or white pants. Unlike the Cheongsam, however, the gown is divided all the way from the waist down, the lining of the pants. .
Ao Dai has undergone many changes since the original version. Ao tu than, was worn by Vietnamese women the century before the ao dai evolved into a five-piece dress known as the closest form to the ao dai. The old version of the long coat then has five wings: two in the back, two in the front and one in the bottom. Ao Dai, however, is tighter fitted and has a higher collar without a bodice below.

5. Market

Market life in Vietnam is a big part of the culture, and has been for centuries. Some of the most popular markets include the Hanoi market in the Old Quarter and the floating markets of the Mekong Delta. Haggling is a way of life in Vietnam - even foreigners are expected to join!

6. Art

The Water puppet show is Vietnam's most famous performing art, dating back to the 11th century. When the Red River explodes its banks, it offers the opportunity for creative puppeteers to hide their bodies - they and the mechanism behind the puppets they operate. Water puppet shows are still practiced today, with puppet players performing from half-submerged positions.

7. Handicraft village

Artisans and their handicrafts are a proud aspect of Vietnam's heritage, with its rich natural resources providing opportunities for local people to be creative. Today, there are 1,500 craft villages in Vietnam.
