If you are thinking about doing a plumbing and PPR Pipe fittings task you have to choose PVC pipe. At the time of welding, you will require a solution or cement that will help to cut the pipe smoothly and to form it into a desirable shape. There are two types of solutions available in the market that are known as the medium body and high body primers.
If you are operating with the Schedule 40 PVC pipe, medium body primers can take in use. If the diameter is large you can try the heavy body primers too. High body primers demand an additional cost. It is specially invented for the Schedule 80 PVC pipe.
You can differentiate them by their colors as the medium body primer is available in cream color and the high body primers are available in purple color. These purple color primers are much suitable for Industrial construction and fitting processes.
Instead of PVC if you are using CPVC then also you should take the heavy body primer. When you are applying the primer, ensure that no blank spaces or patches should be left on the surfaces, it should be primed well. The primer process should be done neatly.
Like primers, solvent cement is also available according to the medium body, heavy body, and extra heavy body cement solvent. Medium and heavy body cement is available in gray and clean color.
Selection of Primer
Determine the application area
Before purchasing any type of primer material you should determine the application area between the Schedule 40 Pipe fittings or Schedule 80 Pipe Fittings.
Determine the Diameter
If you have determined the Schedule 40 PVC and PPR pipe fittings, or Schedule 80 PPR pipe fittings, then apply the medium or heavy body primer, inspect the wall thickness of pipe fittings, if the diameter is greater than 6”, apply the heavy industry primer.
After the primer practices, if someone is going to inspect the applicable area, you should apply the purple variant. No one involved in the inspectional process chose the cosmetic purpose clear variant.
Selection of Cement
Material and Application area
The factors that are essential for the primer would be similar to the solvent cement. A heavy body and medium body solvent cement should apply on the Schedule 40 pipes.
If the application area falls in the narrow range diameter then you can apply the medium body and heavy body cement for the Schedule80 pipe fittings.
Measure the diameter
If the diameter is less than 6” you should use medium body solvent cement for glue fitting purposes. Otherwise, go for the heavy body cement. If the diameter of the pipe and fittings is greater than 14”, extra heavy body cement solvent would be the suitable one.
If the PVC pipe and fittings are of Schedule 80, and the diameter 4”. Use medium body cement, if the diameter range is between 4-12, pick the heavy body cement, if the diameter range is increased to 12” the last option is extra heavy cement.
We Hope, this content will be helpful to choose the right primer and solvent, to make your research process easier . We have mentioned the range of diameter. You can find the PVC primer and solvent products of any PV pipe manufacturers Delhi.
