You can just imagine yourself somewhere, in an exotic décor, next to the ocean, in a ferienvilla. Bali is such a place, where you can choose from many exotic ferienhäuser. Bali, the Indonesian province and island with the same name, is a favourite destination for millions of tourists. The main island of the province is situated between the islands Java and Lombok. The capital of the province is the city of Denpasar. The island is also called Island of Gods, Morning of the World, Island of Peace, or island of Love, and is home for more than four million inhabitants.

The island is a real home for the Hindu minority of Indonesia, with more than 92% of its population being Balinese Hinduism practitioners. Bali is the largest Indonesian tourist destination, renowned for modern and traditional dance, music, painting, sculpture, leather and metalworking. The island has been a tourist haven for many years, with a spectacular increase of their number in recent years. The south of the island is the area where tourism industry was initially focused.

The main locations with touristic profile are Kuta, Sanur, Ubud, Pecatu and Nusa Dua. There were restrictions for tourists along the years, due to unwanted events like the terrorist bombings occurred in 2002 and 2005, when many people were killed and others wounded.

A real estate industry continuously growing is an offshoot of tourism. Real estate in Bali has been developing quickly in areas like Kuta, Seminyak, Legian and Oberoi or, more recently, on the Bukit peninsula, in the south of the island, where five star projects were initiated and are developing. Along the southern cliff sides of the island, many projects are developing, such as million dollar ferienhäuser. Bali has many areas where foreign and domestic investment keeps on growing. Despite the global economic crisis, land prices have remained relatively stable.

Indonesia’s currency has lost about 30% of its value against the US dollar to the end of 2008. As a result, overseas visitors felt enticed to visit the island. However, the worldwide economic crisis has determined a loss of tourists in 2009, so that there were fewer tourists trying to rent a ferienvilla. Bali was no more affected by terrorist events lately, which is good for tourism growth in the island.

After the terrorist attacks, the tourism industry slowly recovered and even surpassed its previous performance. There was a steady long term increase of tourist arrivals, with 2.57 million foreign visitors in 2010. In 2012, Bali received 2.88 million foreign visitors and more than five million domestic tourists. For 2013, forecasts go up to 3.1 million foreign tourists to the Indonesian island. This is a promising trend for one of the most sought touristic destinations in the world.
