Darrell Landrum of Oregon has been in the AMA for ten years.

A member of the American Motorcyclists Association, Darrell Landrum of Oregon celebrates ten years with the AMA. “The AMA is one of the most important organizations in the country,” stated Darrell Landrum of Oregon. The AMA has set the framework for other statewide motorcycle associations in the United States, including the Oregon Motorcycle Riders Association, to which Darrell Landrum of Oregon belongs. Darrell Landrum of Oregon has always been a lover of motorcycles, finding them more efficient and liberating than cars. Darrell Landrum of Oregon loves riding motorcycles because he enjoys outdoor adventure and being a part of a group with similar interests. Motorcycle organizations have a high level of involvement and attract a large membership.

The AMA has been in existence since 1924 with the goal of protecting the future and promoting the lifestyle of motorcycling. The AMA sanctions motorsports competition and motorcycle recreational events through member clubs, promoters, and partners. The AMA sanctions more of these events than any other organization across the globe, and it also uses the Motorcycle Hall of Fame to preserve the heritage and history of motorcycling.

One concern that the AMA has always met head-on is the public image conjured by the idea of motorcycling. The AMA has instituted multiple initiatives over the years to improve the public image of motorcycling, including the “Muffler Mike” campaign in 1948 that encouraged quiet riding. Additionally, the AMA has promoted a good public image through personal appearance, safety measures, and quiet zones.

The AMA also has a longstanding commitment to motorcycle competition, which Darrell Landrum of Oregon enjoys taking part in. In 2008, the AMA chose to end its management of pro racing and sold some of its AMA Pro Racing properties to the Daytona Motorsports Group, which gave them the sanctioning, promotional, and management rights to AMA Pro Racing. This allowed the AMA to focus more of its energy on the amateur racing program, other member programs, and advocacy for American motorcyclists. Darrell Landrum of Oregon was in favor of this sale because he is involved in amateur racing and enjoys the increased focus on membership rather than pro racing. Darrell Landrum of Oregon values the AMA as a national organization and will continue to be a member.
