Promwad, an electronics design company, has developed protected USB dongle with integrated browser for online banking transactions. This USB device has been developed by Promwad specialists for a Swiss company that deals with e-commerce solutions and client-bank systems.

To develop the system for safe data transfer Promwad has performed the following set of tasks: hardware platform selection, software development and prototyping. Company’s experts used C++ and JS programming languages, MSVC2005 and MinGW development tools, USB 2.0 interface as well as dotProject and SVN project management tools to create the device. Duration of the project on protected USB dongle development is 5 months.

The designed product provides the following functionalities: secure storage of user information, detection of attacker modification, secure update, encrypting and decrypting of private files and downloading data, secure delete operation, etc. Besides, authorization in the system requires PIN code and digital signature. To work with a bank account software interfaces have been integrated with Mozilla Firefox with additional settings to enhance data protection (user identification data is hidden, the device is supposed to work with a certain bank, automatic data verification, etc.).

“During project implementation Promwad experts analyzed all requirements formulated by a client and transformed them into a real solution – protected USB dongle for secure online banking transactions. Project implementation took about 5 months.
