Strengthen Internet Safety for Children at Home, Says Eddie Vanaken of LbL Home Defense
Maintaining privacy of everyone at home has always been a hot issue between parents and children. Eddie Vanaken weighs in on the subject and shares a practical solution.

Cerulean, KY –11/07/2013 – Never before has connectivity and access to information from the internet been as easy as it is today, thanks to computers and the growing number of smartphones and tablets sold in the market.

“Just a few years back, the internet was not so much integrated in our lives. My children used it simply for research and finding information for their home work,” wrote Eddie Vanaken, owner of LbL Home Defense Products. “Now, our children’s lives revolve around [the internet]: they spend their time chatting with friends on social networks, play games, watch movies and listen to music online.”

Needless to say, such widespread use exposes children to the dangers of the internet.

A few years back, NBC correspondent Chris Hansen commented on Dateline: “Children spend hours chatting online with their friends, and sometimes with strangers. A recent study found that one in five children online is approached by a sexual predator, a predator who may try to set up a face-to-face meeting."

So, while many would frown at the thought of invading the privacy of anyone in the family—including those of kids—Vanaken reiterates that it is the parents’ responsibility to provide protection for their children from the dangers of the internet.
“We have the right to know; we need to be vigilant,” Vanaken said, “Today, there are countless ways we can exercise parental control over our children’s online activity without constantly breathing at their backs.”

Vanaken shares the Child Online Safety Kit, a parental internet control software, on his website, www.lblhomedefenseproducts.com, which is a one stop online shop for home and personal security products. Aside from the online safety kit, the LbL Home Defense website also showcases child safety products such as child guards, personal alarms and location trackers. It conveniently showcases security products in one page when most other searches would require opening more tabs.

LbL Home Defense operates out of Cerulean, Kentucky and has started serving the whole of United States through the website. Vanaken also uses the website to promote safety awareness through blogs and newsletters.

Aside from Child Safety, LbL Home Defense also highlights Home Security, Personal Security, and Animal Repellers. Products such as Hidden Cameras, Diversion Safes and Safety Kits are also featured on the site.

About LbL Home Defense

LbL Home defense was started by Cerulean, KY resident Eddie Vanaken after being the victim of a burglary. The experience made him realize the changing times and the need to raise awareness about keeping homes and lives protected.

Researching the internet for home defense, personal defense and all other available safety products on the market, Vanaken found that there are a few big companies that sell their products to resellers. What is more, information about personal security and home safety are spread out such that finding advice that helps cannot be contained in one seating. That’s why he thought about building a website that offers products to defend every member of one’s family.
