The French yacht builder continues to experience robust growth in China. During the first half of he nautical year (September to February), Jeanneau recorded a 41% increase of sales over the same period last year.

“Despite reports of a slowdown in some luxury sectors, yachting continues to develop at a fast pace ropped up on the development of quality infrastructure all around China. Affluent people welcome yachting as a new way to entertain away from the crowds” comments Paul Blanc, Jeanneau Asia Pacific sales director.

Prestige, the motor yachts division, contributes significantly to this growth. Seven units of the new Prestige 500 were sold in China before the boat was even presented to the market. The commercial success of the Prestige 500 complements a worldwide recognition; the boat received a number of awards from the industry, including the prestigious title of European Powerboat of the Year 2012 at the Düsseldorf boat show in anuary.

“The Prestige 500 and Prestige 60 account for a large part of Jeanneau’s business in China as today’s market focuses on powerboats between 45 and 65 feet of length. While the market tends to develop towards larger yachts, we also witness a growing demand for our smaller powerboats and sailboats. The enlargement of the market to new segments is a very positive sign” adds Paul Blanc.

Jeanneau will display their latest models at the upcoming Hainan Rendez-Vous (5-9 April) and Shanghai boat show (19-23 April).
