The pandemic has affected all of us. The months-long lockdown has forced many companies to go out of business and many people to not be able to earn their keep. As a result, many people are unable to pay off their rental fees.

In British Columbia, the government’s rent assistance program is extended up to August. This will still allow tenants who lost their jobs to have something to pay for their rent. But landlords are also buckling under the economic weight. They also need to have a source of income during this period.

Just recently, the Ministry of Municipal Affairs and Housing has given the go signal to restart eviction in Vancouver. Landlords are now allowed to provide a Notice to End Tenancy but with some restrictions. Landlords can also now perform their usual duties such as entering their tenant’s properties for maintenance provided that they practice proper social distancing measures.

If you have a pending eviction order, you can now take it to court. This is effective starting this July 2. If you don’t want to deal with eviction in Vancouver, you can hire rental property managers such as Casa Rental Management to do the job. They also know more about the new regulations when it comes to eviction, so they can carry it out better.

During this time, it’s also important to contribute to society. If your tenants are struggling to make ends meet, it is advisable for landlords to stall collecting the rents. You can give your tenants more time to find another source of income. You can give a grace period so that they are not forced to leave the only home that they have right now.

Try talking to your tenants as well to come up with an agreement that will satisfy both parties and will not end up in an eviction in Vancouver. If there are other possible options that you can offer to your tenant such as accepting half of the rental fee until the economy recovers or giving your tenants a chance to pay off in staggard payments their overdue payments can help a lot.

You can talk to your rental property manager about what the best thing to do is. You need to weigh down your decisions carefully, especially if you are also suffering economically.

Eviction in Vancouver should be the last course of action. If there is nothing else to do but to evict a tenant, get the help of a property manager to make sure it is done right.
