Tourism accounts for 12% of Vietnam's GDP and will be one of the first nations in Southeast Asia to start reviving its economy with international tourism.

 
The Vietnam government has decided to issue Vietnam eVisa Online. Vietnam will reopen to international tourists. The visa will start issuing from July 1 to citizens of 80 countries. Citizens in 80 countries can now apply online for eVisa as of July 1 2020, the government said in a resolution signed Monday. Resolution 79 / NQ-CP was issued in accordance with the law on aliens entering, leaving, transiting and residing in Vietnam.

Vietnam saw a 98 percent drop in visitors in April from 2019 due to the coronavirus pandemic, but its success in fighting the virus - recorded only 324 cases and no deaths, despite sharing the border with China, the hot spot initially - now it is determined to breathe life into the tourism industry.

Visitors with electronic visas can enter Vietnam at eight international airports or land through 16 international border gates and 13 seaports across the country.

8 airports are:
Noi Bai in Hanoi
Tan Son Nhat in Ho Chi Minh City
Cam Ranh in Khanh Hoa Province
Da Nang in the namesake city
Cat Bi in Hai Phong
Can Tho in the eponymous city
Phu Quoc in Kien Giang Province
Phu Bai in Thua Thien-Hue Province
The first COVID-19 arrived in Vietnam in early January.
