10th dec 2015, United States (http://www.mtpabortionpill.com/) : Planned Parenthood this week sued Idaho at federal court. The allegation was made on two new laws deemed unconstitutional in restricting access to pregnancy termination in the state. This healthcare center was against application of law to curtail women rights in seeking Mifepristone pill prescriptions through medical teleconference appointments or telemedicine. The measure was given an approval earlier in 2015 year by the Idaho’s Republican constituted legislature. It was brought into as law by C.L. ‘Butch’ Otter, the Governor, who is also a Republican.

The obligation is on physicians who use telemedicine for prescribing drugs for medical pregnancy ending. But, the new law passed required doctor to examine the female in person when they take tablets to terminate pregnancies. The physicians may be charged for criminal activity or even lose their medical license if they violate these statutes. Also, it may not be valid for women to get abortion pill online without a prior prescription. The medical regimen makes use of anti progesterone and Misoprostol to end a pregnancy that is within 49 days of gestation.

These medications are approved by the Food and Drug Administration of the U.S. it has reported of severe adverse events from the utilization of medicines, which includes deaths. But, even surgical procedure carries this risk. The Republic lawmakers were of the opinion that these two bills are necessary measures to protect health of females. The opponents feel that banning telemedicine to prescribing medicines will deny some females the method of ending pregnancy of their choice. It may also force some to forego termination of fetus entirely.

The law may also bring in hazards of traveling to great distance risking the person’s life and health to access the pharmaceuticals and procedures. In some cases a self administration of the medicines can go wrong and cause complications. Especially after women obtain Mifepristone online, they should at least go for an ultrasound to find if their pregnancy is extra-uterine or intra-uterine. In case of extra uterine or ectopic pregnancy, medicines are not suitable to terminate fetus. Thus, doctor’s observation and immediate care facilities would rather help patients, which is not so in case of in-home administration of the pills.

In the lawsuit issues by the U.S. District Court in Boise, the organization, Planned Parenthood from the Great Northwest and the Hawaiian Islands said that these restrictions are in contradiction to constitutional guarantees stating equal protection pertaining to law by forcing females in rural or remote areas to undergo pregnancy termination in late trimester. The group is asking the federal judge to permanently band the state from enforcing the particular law as it seems unconstitutional. Women should be able to rather buy abortion online pill safely or take it via telemedicine or webcam consultation.

The defendant Lawrence Wasden is the defendant Attorney General in Idaho County, where the Planned Parenthood has three centers operating, and a state Board of Medicine. The spokesman of Wasden said it is not the state’s policy to comment on a pending litigation. If telemedicine is not criminalized for giving out Mifepristone pill, then many women would have a better control over their reproductive health. Also, the healthcares divide between rural and city areas will diminish greatly.

The citizens can then obtain the tablets speedily at a lower cost, and from safe outlets. Moreover, a law which does not distinguish women’s healthcare based on telemedicine or other ways of getting the medicines like procuring abortion pill online, will establish a clearer and fairer stand for protecting female’s health than choosing a law that bans such services. The decision on the issue is still pending with both opponents and supporters to the law, and also the citizens are awaiting a call soon.
