Burnham Resources,a recruitment and outplacement agency that provides both staffing and payroll services, has recently released a news article about the results from the Chartered Institute of Payroll Professionals’ (CIPP) annual survey which reveal Great Britain’s lack of planning for retirement, despite auto-enrollment recently coming into effect.

The young and the elderly have been shown as the most likely to not have a pension plan in place, with 36% aged 51 to 60 admitting that they don’t have a pension provision and a startling 60% of 20-24 year olds stating that they have not made a pension plan. In fact, 30% of all surveyed were not sure if their pension pot will be sufficient to live on and 24% answered that they were too young to even be thinking about a pension.

This news is particularly worrisome given that the government has recently been emphasising the importance of making provisions for the future and it is creating a financial time bomb.
