It often becomes quite tough for us to strike a balance between our busy schedule and our health, and we end up taking desperate shortcuts which damages our health further. Obesity is one of the most common health problems today, and we end up starving ourselves while trying loose weight.

It is important to understand that starving will not cure obesity, but will rather make us weak and unhealthy. The right way to loose weight and maintain health is to follow a balanced diet instead of simply starving or skipping meals.

Smoothie Diet is an excellent option both to loose weight and detox our body, without compromising our nutrient intake. Following a smoothie diet also helps to break the monotony of our regular diet and adds a bit of healthy flavour. We may keep one day per week totally dedicated to smoothie diet or we may also replace our breakfast or dinner with a smoothie daily. For working personals it is easier to keep a smoothie day at the weekend to counter balance all the toxins and fats they have consumed through the week.

A smoothie diet mainly consists of three smoothies replacing our breakfast, lunch, dinner. Huge quantity of water intake also becomes an inevitable part of the smoothie diet. One may also replace one of the three primary meals per day with a smoothie. In summer season people don’t like to have oily breakfast and the quick bread- butter becomes monotonous. Having a mango smoothie for breakfast is an excellent alternative during summer time.

A mango smoothie may be easily prepared using fresh or frozen mango, banana, milk , yogurt and ice cubes. Mango smoothie can also be made without dairy products by using coconut milk, cashew milk, coconut yogurt. Some berries, almonds, cashews may be added to enhance the taste. The mango smoothie is full of protein, fiber, energy which is an excellent option to replace breakfast.

Since fresh mango is not available throughout the year one may also try blueberry smoothie for breakfast or as evening snack.

A typical blueberry smoothie is made with frozen blueberries, banana, yogurt, apple juice or skimmed milk and ice cubes. One may use non dairy milk or yogurt if required and add protein powder, chia seeds or flax seeds to increase the protein content of the smoothie. Some smoothie may help more than just loosing weight, they also help in detoxification, cardiovascular health etc.

Avocado is a super food with lots of health benefits an detoxification properties. It also contains vitamins like B, C, K. An avocado smoothie is typically made using apple juice, spinach, chopped apple, avocado and ice. It may be taken as a lunch or dinner replacement and will help us to detoxify our body. It is better to avoid restaurant smoothies as they are full of sugar. The best option is to make our smoothies at home with fresh ingredients.
