Prithvi Shaw might miss the second Test against New Zealand following an injury issue. Shaw had to skip Thursday’s training session which definitely gave birth to speculations regarding his inclusion in the upcoming match.
Shaw injured before second Test
Due to a swelling on his left foot, Prithvi Shaw missed Thursday’s training session. Indians are going to take on the Kiwis in the second Test match in Church gate from Saturday. With just a couple of days in hand, Shaw’s injury increased the tension in the Indian dressing room. The reports suggested that Shaw would undergo a blood Test to assess the injury better and understand the reason of the swelling.

Based on the medical test report of Friday a decision will be made during the practice session about his availability for the second test. If the report shows positive result, everything should be fine. If it does not give green signal and Shaw also faces trouble during his batting at the net, he will not get features in the side for the second Test.

Gill to make debut?

The Mumbai opener did not even take part in the warm-up session where his teammates were playing rugby. But the team management is still hopeful about Shaw’s inclusion to the team. As mentioned by Virat Kohli earlier, the skipper has full faith on the young opener. Even after his poor showing in Wellington Test, Kohli believes that Shaw can do well. Kohli also confirmed that Shaw would make it to the playing XI if he remains match fit.

If Shaw does not play the next match, in all likelihood, Shubman Gill will get his maiden call. Gill will make his Test debut and open with Mayank Agarwal in the absence of Shaw. Gill had a good session on Thursday. Moreover, the head coach Ravi Shastri was seen walking up to Gill and discuss about technicalities. Shastri gave some inputs to Gill about his footwork.
