Madrid, Spain, May 06, 2013 - Adif, Fruits de Ponent, Grupo Norte, ICO, Indra and Unilever are winners of the first European CSR awards.

On 25 June, Brussels will be the venue for the first edition of the European Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) Awards. Spain will be represented at this event by two companies selected for awards in the International CSR Spain 2013 Forum by Forética, the leading CSR association for business and professionals.

Spain’s representatives (selected from among 12 candidates) will be the company Fruits de Ponent, which was selected as “Best SME initiative” for its programme “DOSAFRUIT”, and Indra, which received the award for “Best large company initiative” for its project “Consignos”. The other winning projects came from three companies (Adif, Grupo Norte, Unilever) and the Official Credit Institute (ICO).

The Chairman of Forética, Iñaki Ereño, said: “Their leadership in CSR is a clear demonstration of the innovative capacity of many companies in Spain. Today we have seen how responsible management makes it possible to improve productivity, promote transparency and help to create jobs”.

Those presenting the awards included Carlos Espinosa de los Monteros, High Commissioner for the Marca España, who spoke of “the importance of seeing CSR as the end result of a conversation with stakeholders and cross-cutting dialogue within organisations, as a positive attribute that not only strengthens a company’s brand and reputation, but that of a country too, with a resulting impact on international competitiveness, which is crucial in the current economic context”.

The main focus of CSR Spain, which was supported by the European Union and attended by more than 400 people, was the need to stress the message of business leadership in the areas of sustainability, transparency and responsibility when promoting excellence and competitiveness.
