The Juventus players will be unhappy as they leave to their homes (which should not be very far, as they played at home) as they played very well for most of the game. Ronaldo duly gave the hosts the lead with a sublime finish. Juventus continued dominating but could not add more goals. Football is a 90-minute game. For some reason, the Juventus players did not seem to realize that on the night.

On the flip side, to say that it was an easy win for Manchester United would be an understatement. Just like the game against Bournemouth over the weekend, Manchester United had to come back from a goal down away from home. Mourinho had already mentioned that his fight was with Valencia for second place. It still is though. Manchester United rode their luck for most of the game as Khedira and Dybala hit the woodwork. Manchester United picked up the pace towards the end of the game and when Martial stepped up his game (is it currently wrong to say that Manchester United plays well when Martial plays well?). He got the free-kick that led to Juan Mata’s sublime equalizer and then a Bonucci own-goal put the game to bed.

Manchester United will go home with their heads held (very) high and can sleep well tonight. Bring on the Manchester derby! Juventus, on the other hand, is no longer unbeaten in Europe.

When Thierry Henry took the job at Monaco, it seemed like he was the one to get them out of their rot. With no win since August, Thierry Henry’s task was not going to be easy. On Tuesday night, Monaco was trounced 4-0 at home by Club Brugge, ultimately kicking them out of Europe’s elite competition and recording their biggest home defeat in the Champions League. Last in the group in the Champions League, second from bottom in the Ligue 1, things are not going well for Monaco and Henry at the moment. It seems like it could get worse. Guess who is coming to town this weekend in the Ligue 1? You guessed it! Paris St. Germain.

Liverpool had the easier of the two ties in their group. They wanted to take full advantage of the fact that either PSG or Napoli (or both) would drop points in their clash later in the day. They did not do any of that. They conceded two goals in the first half courtesy of Milan Pavkov and they woke up in the second half and never really got going. After recently going through a tough run of recent fixtures and doing really well, this loss came as a huge shock. Luckily, Napoli or PSG did not really gain ground as the played out a 1-1 draw.

As things stand, Napoli, who is first and unbeaten, is on six points and Red Star Belgrade, who is last is on four points. Anyone can still qualify. Anyone.

After four games in an admittedly tough group, Tottenham finally secure their first win of this Champions League season. Again, it was not easy. They were down a goal after two minutes. After some very good display (and poor finishing) for most of the game, their Talisman, Harry Kane, got two late goals to secure all three points. They would have to get something against Barcelona at the Camp Nou and get a win against Inter Milan. Uphill task.
