Considered as the Godfather of Indian journalism, Govindlal Vora passed away in the year 2018 after suffering from Pneumonia and breathing-related problems. The passion for writing and vision for working towards social upliftment encouraged him to highlight the true picture of the society. His contributions to journalism are immeasurable.

The six decades of fearless and unbiased journalism has not only earned him respect but also introduced the state of Chhattisgarh to the world. Imagining Chhattisgarh’s journalism without his leadership is a hard nut to crack. He was an integral member of many associations working towards the wellbeing and betterment of journalists.
Govindlal Vora was the driving force behind the foundation of Raipur Press Club. He believed that the young journalists needed to develop strong principles and should adopt an honest approach in covering any news, issue or event. He wanted the journalists to meet and discuss new ideas to empower national journalism. He even held the position of Director of the Raipur Press Club.

Nothing stayed untouched by Govindlal Vora. He was the Director of the Chhattisgarh Hindi Literature Convention. He also encouraged the foundation of the press community at Pt. Ravishankar Shukla University. In parallel, he stayed an active member in many social institutions like ’Gram Seva Samiti’ and ‘Krishi Gaurakshini’ which operated on the principles and visions of Mahatma Gandhi.

It will not be an overstatement to say that every aspect of society was touched and improved by Govindlal Vora. He was a gem and his contributions towards journalism and society are transcendental.
